Since opening in 1990, Waterside Garden Centre has changed dramatically over the years. More recently, Waterside Garden Centre has evolved into a retail centre in its own right. We now offer a wide selection of different services including a dedicated Aquatics department, a huge outdoor furniture area and our own food hall and butchery, but we still have quality plants at our heart. As well as our own shops and services, a number retail partners have joined the team. These expand the range of products and services we can offer at Waterside Garden Centre.

Andy Parrott and Alan Walters were two neighbours who shared a love for gardening and growing vegtables, decided to turn their passion and hobby into a full time buisness. This family run, independent business began as 'Waterside Nursery' and was started initially on an old watercress bed site on the A15 near a place known as 'Kates Bridge'.
Within a few years the present site became available and the two gardeners didn't hesitate in relocating the business in order to create a bigger centre. After many months of hard work, Waterside Garden Centre officially opened on St Patrick's Day, 17th March 1990.
Over the following years the centre continued to evolve with extensions to the two original garden centre buildings going ahead in late 1992 with a linking area and a massive conservatory frontage. Soon it was to be extended further, adding offices and toilets. And in 2002 the entire Plant Area was redesigned to be much larger and offer greater choice.
Waterside installed a Rovero 'Roll Air' greenhouse over the outdoor plant area, this enabled us to improve our customers comfort, as the fully opening & closing roof meant that they could be indoors or outdoors within seconds. This also meant that Waterside Garden Centre would become one of a handful of garden centres in the country, that could offer its customers an all weather shopping experience.
Waterside Garden Centre purchased a second garden centre, The Olive Grove Nursery at Polebrook in Oundle. After substantial investment into new buildings, carparking and a 'Roll Air' greenhouse, Olive Grove Oundle was relaunched. Specialising in Olive trees & Mediterranean plants, with the largest selection of Olive trees in the UK. So why not visit our sister centre's website www.olivegroveoundle.co.uk
