JBA Seed Potatoes - Accord - First Early

With an unusually high yield for a first early variety, the Accord seed potato is an excellent choice for using in salads thanks to its very waxy, cream coloured flesh. This variety is incredibly versatile and can be used in many different ways in the kitchen, from mashing and roasting, to baking and boiling.

The Accord variety has been found to have a good resistance to diseases such as common scab and powdery scab, and produces a uniform rounded oval shape. If planted in March, potatoes can be harvested as early as June or July.

Key Information:

  • Round to oval shaped tubers
  • Cream skinned with a very waxy, cream flesh
  • Produces an unusually high yield for a first early variety
  • Good resistance to common and powdery scab

Advice & Tips:

  • Soon after purchasing, empty the seed potatoes into a shallow box, such as an egg box, and store them in a cool area protected from frost.
  • Two weeks before planting out, move the seed potatoes to a light area so that they can produce a strong, thick sprout - make sure they are rose eye upwards. When exposed to light, the potatoes will turn green - this is normal.
  • When planted into the ground, each potato should be approximately 25cm from the next, with rows spaced approximately 60cm apart. The potatoes should be approximately 15cm into the ground.

Useful Information:

When to sow: March - April
When to Harvest: June - July
Culinary Use: Excellent for Baking, Boiling and Salads, also good for Chipping, Mashing and Roasting
