JBA Seed Potatoes - Casablanca - First Early

With harvesting possible in as little as 62 days from planting, the Casablanca seed potato is one of the earliest first early varieties and is a wonderful all-rounder potato in the kitchen; not only perfect for baking, this variety can also be used for boiling, roasting, chipping and mashing.

Casablanca tubers have a smooth white skin which encases the white flesh inside; with a good resistance to common potato diseases, this variety is a great choice for growing in containers where it can produce a medium-sized potato.

Key Information:

  • Smooth white tubers with a white flesh
  • Good resistance to common potato diseases such as common and powdery scab
  • An ideal choice for growing in containers

Advice & Tips:

  • Soon after purchasing, empty the seed potatoes into a shallow box, such as an egg box, and store them in a cool area protected from frost.
  • Two weeks before planting out, move the seed potatoes to a light area so that they can produce a strong, thick sprout - make sure they are rose eye upwards. When exposed to light, the potatoes will turn green - this is normal.
  • When planted into the ground, each potato should be approximately 25cm from the next, with rows spaced approximately 60cm apart. The potatoes should be approximately 15cm into the ground.

Useful Information:

When to sow: March - April
When to Harvest: June - July
