JBA Seed Potatoes - Maris Piper - Maincrop

Considered the best potato for chip making, the Maris Piper potato variety is extremely versatile and can be used in many different ways in the kitchen, including boiling, roasting and baking.

The white skin and cream coloured flesh of a Maris Piper potato rarely discolours once cooked, and stores well so that you can enjoy homegrown potatoes throughout the summer months. Main crop potatoes can be harvested approximately 15-22 weeks after planting.

Key Information:

  • Oval shaped tubers
  • Produces a high yield
  • White skin and cream coloured flesh
  • Great for long term storage

Advice & Tips:

  • Soon after purchasing, empty the seed potatoes into a shallow box, such as an egg box, and store them in a cool area protected from frost.
  • Two weeks before planting out, move the seed potatoes to a light area so that they can produce a strong, thick sprout - make sure they are rose eye upwards. When exposed to light, the potatoes will turn green - this is normal.
  • When planted into the ground, each potato should be approximately 25cm from the next, with rows spaced approximately 60cm apart. The potatoes should be approximately 15cm into the ground.
