Mr Fothergills Beetroot Seeds - Boltardy Variety

Boltardy is a multigerm beetroot variety with great bolt resistance, making it a favourite for early sowing. These seeds will produce tasty even-shaped beetroots with a good colour & texture that are a great source of folate & potassium. They can be lifted young as baby beets or left to mature for larger beets.

Sow outdoors between March-July & they will typically be ready to harvest between June-October.

Advice & Tips:

  • Sow thinly outdoors where they will crop, allowing 30cm between rows
  • Seedlings usually appear in 7-21 days
  • Thin seedlings to 10cm apart
  • Water well until established
  • Sow every 3 weeks to ensure a continuous supply of young beets
  • Harvested roots can be stored in dry sand for winter use
  • Twisting off the leaves will prevent bleeding
  • Young leaves are edible & can be cooked like spinach
