Mr Fothergills Carrot Seeds - St Valery Variety

A popular exhibition carrot variety, St Valery is a high quality maincrop carrot with good yields of sweet flavoured, uniform roots. Sow these seeds outdoors for great flavoured carrots that provide an excellent source of vitamin A & antioxidants.

Sow outdoors between March-June & they will typically be ready to harvest between August-December.

Advice & Tips:

  • Sow thinly outdoors where they will crop, allowing 30cm between rows
  • Seedlings usually appear in 14-21 days
  • Thin by harvesting young carrots evenly, allowing some to grow on
  • Water well until established
  • Sow every 3 weeks to ensure a continuous supply of young roots
  • Keep well watered during dry spells to prevent roots from splitting
  • Roots can be lifted in autumn; remove soil & store in dry sand
  • Delay sowing until May if carrot fly is a problem
