Tom Chambers
Wooden Mouse House
Dormouse nest boxes provide shelter for hazel dormice. They naturally inhabit woodland with scrub and hedgerows. Once widespread their numbers are now sadly in decline, this is due to changes in woodland management, loss of hedgerows and different farming practises.
A dormouse normally feeds on a variety of foods including nuts, fruits and insects and of course they love the hazel nut!
Did you know? - The dormouse is a protected species so it is illegal to disturb dormice or to damage their resting places without a license.
